Harstad
Aibel's contract with Statoil in maintenance and modification (Statoil M&M) requires that 70 percent of those who work on the contract must be located near Statoil's facilities. This is the background for Aibel's expansion to Harstad, and Aibel is now located near Statoil.
Aibel Harstad is responsible for maintenance and modification at a Statoil production vessel on the Norne field in the Norwegian Sea. The job is multi-disciplinary, which means that all of Aibel's technical competencies are involved in the assignment.
On average, the work done at Norne will require a staff of 40 to 50, and the key staff on the projects are Aibel's own employees. There has been considerable interest in the new positions in the North, and the company is very satisfied with being established in the area.
In February 2012 Aibel was awarded a framework agreement with A/S Norske Shell for modification to the Draugen plattform. Pursuant to the contract that has been signed, Aibel will carry out numerous modification projects. The largest modification projects are carried out from Stavanger, Oslo and Harstad. Operation-related projects is located in Kristiansund.
The Aibel office in Harstad is located at the waterfront in Kanebogen. The building is also located between the centre of town and Statoil's Harstad facilities. Kanebogen is a mixed residential and business area, and Aibel has moved into the former Hydro building. The airport bus leaves from a stop near the office. It takes 10 minutes to the center of town and the nearest hotel, and 45 minutes to the airport.
There is a good work environment in the new office. New and motivated employees are getting started on exciting tasks with great motivation. Aibel is happy to be able to provide secure jobs in the region.
Statoil M&M and Shell Upgrade is the most important assignments for Aibel Harstad, says Location Manager Jan-Are Gudbrandsen.
