First workday in the new building

Over the weekend several hundred employees in Haugesund have moved from their old offices into the new building at Risøy. Today is their very first workday there.

“The working environment here is great, especially lighting and colours,” says Jan Hølland.

He is supported by Tove Stelander. She is discipline lead in an Oseberg project and is very pleased with the new building.

“Everything's new here. In addition, everybody in my project sits together and that is a great advantage,” she says.

“The future lies before us"

The new building is located right on the quayside at Risøy, with views extending over both Karmsundet and into the city. It is largely project engineers and their co-workers who are now moving in.

The first workday in the new building was celebrated by the employees in the new canteen today. The location manager in Haugesund, Bjørn Tollefsen, had the honour of wishing everyone welcome. He congratulated the employees and talked about busy times ahead for Aibel.

“The future lies before us. Already, all the office spaces in this building and in the one that is under construction are filled up,” Tollefsen said.

A sustainable building

The new Aibel building in Haugesund is the first office building in the Haugesund region to have received an environmental certification "B".

"The building is very well insulated, heating is provided by heat pumps with the assistance of natural gas in frigid temperatures," explains project manager Kristian Gudmundsen.

In total there are 288 work spaces distributed over five floors in the first building phase. The open-plan offices, the work spaces and the meeting rooms are all equipped with their own individual sensors that automatically control the lights and ventilation to optimise the conditions.

Engineer Odd Anton Lie has an office space with a view overlooking Karmsundet. “It’s fantastic. I’m lucky,” he says with a smile.

Second phase soon ready

The new building is owned by Garpaskjær Eiendom and Veidekke was the construction company.

The second building phase, which is scheduled for completion in September, will contain a further 340 work spaces spread across six floors. A large parking garage with over 330 parking spaces will also be completed at that time.
