Skogseth talked about recruitment challenges
“Aibel has had a large growth in personnel and hired 1000 new employees last year. But even though we have been successful so far, hiring engineers is increasingly difficult,” Skogseth said.
Recruitment is a common challenge across the industry, and the topic has been mentioned by all the speakers. Skogseth said that is not easy getting people to move to Stavanger and Bergen, because of high living costs.
“An important factor for attracting the right people is providing challenging tasks and possibilities for individual development. Aibel focuses highly on career development for our employees ” Skogseth explained.
New ways to access personnel
Up to 2015, Aibel will continue to hire approximately 1000 people every year, but will also access competence through other channels.
“We will increase our cooperation with international subcontractors, which is one of the ways to ensure that we have good capacity for the tasks at hand,” Skogseth said.
Aibel has a stand at the conference. Per Anda is one of the Aibel employees who has been watching the stand.
The conference
“Offshore Strategikonferansen” is held by the Federation of Norwegian Industries, and gathers central members of the energy industry to debate the future.
Among the speakers this year was Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Ola Borten Moe, and Executive vice president in Statoil, Margareth Øvrum.
