"The Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked us for letting him visit. He was impressed by the way we work in Norway and abroad, and said that Aibel is an example of modern Norway,” says Erling Matland. He is the deputy CEO of Aibel AS and was in charge of today's visits from the politicians.

Talked about the industry
The Labour Party visit included Political adviser Astrid Huitfeldt and Chair of the Rogaland Labour Party group, Tom Tvedt. Local Labour Party politicans Arne Christian Mohn, Hege Haukeland and John Holvik were also part of the delegation.
"In addition to introducing the visitors to what Aibel does, I talked about what I believe the Labour Party can do to help ensure the longevity of the industry. For example, I touched on topics such as opening new areas for oil and gas exploration, industrial development in the North, and slowing the wage growth", Matland explains.
Following Matland's presentation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the rest of the delegation donned protective gear for a tour of the yard.

Looked at Gudrun
Yard manager Bjørn Pedersen led the tour of the yard. Gudrun, Aibel's largest current project, received the most attention.
"We visited Nordsjøhallen and showed the visitors the first deck of the Gudrun platform. It has been built here in Haugsund", he explains.
What did the Minister of Foreign Affairs say after the tour?
"He said that it was very interesting and was especially interested in the logistics regarding personnel,” Pedersen concludes.
