“We are delighted that our new office building in Asker has achieved such a good environmental rating. This reflects our objectives and strategy for the project and the company's values," says Stig Jessen, EVP for Field Development at Aibel AS in Oslo.

Sustainable office building

The Aibel building has been a pilot project for the environmental rating tool Breeam Nor. The certification process involves a number of steps and solutions for creating a modern and sustainable office building.

They include the selection of geothermal wells for heating and cooling of the building, energy-saving solutions such as free cooling in the summer and sensors that regulate ventilation and light where people are present. The Aibel building has an energy class "B" rating.

Good workplace

"We want the Aibel building to be a modern and forward-looking office building where the physical work environment for our employees and the external environment are protected in the best way possible. We believe a sound environmental profile will lead to increased job satisfaction among employees, and is hopefully a factor in attracting potential new employees to Aibel," says Jessen.

Breeam is the world's foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings and sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation.

Owned by Ferd Eiendom AS, the building was constructed by Skanska Norge AS and drawn by the architectural firm Jostein Rønsen Arkitekter AS.
