Senior Automation Engineer - Studies

Aibel's skilled employees are located close to our customers at the company's eight offices in Norway and South East Asia. In addition, we operate two modern yards in Haugesund (Norway) and Laem Chabang (Thailand) with complete prefabrication and construction capabilities.

Your responsibilities:

  • Responsible for automation and instrumentation in the Concept & studies organization  
  • Develop general conceptual automation and instrument philosophies & solutions at the required level  
  • Develop Automation & instrumented concepts for remote operated installations (typically including remote operation, remote diagnostics, field instrument set-up, cyber-security, remote access etc.)  
  • Development of A&I topologies, system descriptions, study report input for automation etc.  
  • Take part and contribute in conceptual developments help securing overall solutions  
  • Interface to other disciplines, suppliers and client  
  • Work with topsides on fixed and floating, local & remote operated installations, O&G, HV-substations and wind industry solutions
  • Automation design issues with respect to national and international rules, regulations and different standards (e.g. floating, fixed installations, onshore and offshore, wind industry solutions etc)  
  • Seek cost-effective solutions adopted to the relevant application  
Education and work experience:

  • Bachelor or Master degree within automation, electronics or cybernetics
  • 4-10 years of experience in automation engineering for greenfield offshore oil or wind projects  
  • Main experience within the automation and / or instrument discipline  
  • Experience with conceptual development  
  • Experience with normally not manned installations  
  • Experience with design towards international requirements  
  • Deep knowledge of automation design according to relevant standards such as NORSOK,  
    ATEX, ISO, PTIL, and IEC
