Aibel AS increases its capacity in Oslo

Stavanger/Oslo, 22 February 2010

Aibel AS has signed a lease with one of its owners, the industrial and financial corporation Ferd, for new office premises in Asker, in the vicinity of Oslo. The lease is with Ferd Real Estate, one of Ferd’s business segments.

The new building is part of an office park in Asker, which is being built by Skanska for Ferd. The scheduled construction start is 1 May 2010 and the project is scheduled for completion by 1 December 2011. The construction project is for 23 000 m2, of which 15 000 m2 is for office space, which for Aibel’s office in Oslo means 750 office places and a significantly increased capacity. In addition, Aibel has an option for a further 5,000 m2, allowing for further growth in the company.

‘We look forward to moving into new and modern premises that meet our requirements and wishes in relation to both HSE and energy-saving. Our employees will now have the best possible working conditions,’ says Director and Location Manager Stig Jessen. ‘Aibel is in an exciting phase and with the opportunities provided by larger premises, the Oslo location will have the capacity to handle larger projects and work in the future. We will now be involved in the battle to win the contract for the detail engineering and construction of Gudrun, a new platform that is planned for the North Sea. We have recently performed pre-engineering for this project, and with our new building in Asker we will have sufficient capacity to execute such a project as this one, as well as to gather our ongoing and future projects in one place in our own Aibel building.’
