Aibel awarded 37 MUSD Kvitebjørn Capacity Upgrading project

London, UK, 10 March, 2008

StatoilHydro has awarded its Kvitebjørn Capacity Upgrading (KVB CU) project, with an estimated total value of over 37 MUSD (200 MNOK), to Aibel. This follows a successful separate study for the work also conducted by Aibel in spring 2007. The KVB CU is a stand alone project that will be executed under Aibel’s existing Troll-Sleipner Maintenance & Modifications (M&M) contract. The sum of 37 MUSD includes related work already performed by Aibel since the summer of 2007.

Aibel’s President and CEO R.Rasmus Sunde comments: ”This contract is significant as it highlights our ability to successfully and seamlessly integrate studies, engineering and procurement with on-going maintenance and modification work. Work is coordinated and optimized, cost-effective and, as a single supply solution, eliminates the use of unnecessary resource and time.”

The study conducted for the KVB CU took into account 13 tie-ins for the planned shutdown in August 2008 that have already been completed under the M&M contract. As such, the customer experienced at first hand how Aibel successfully integrates services and skills and coordinates effective project management and control, and on this basis decided to extend the scope of the company’s involvement.

The Kvitebjørn Capacity Upgrade project is scheduled to be finalized in January 2009. The Troll-Sleipner M&M contract Aibel has with StatoilHydro covers the Troll-Sleipner area in the North Sea (Huldra, Veslefrikk A/B, Kvitebjørn, Troll A and the Sleipner field) and the process plant at Kollsnes in Western Norway.
