In the spring of 2016, giant FPSO Glen Lyon docked at Aibel Haugesund. Aibel’s assignment was to assist BP in readying the vessel for production.

In the spring of 2016, giant FPSO Glen Lyon docked at Aibel Haugesund. Aibel’s assignment was to assist BP in readying the vessel for production.

The main purpose of the yardstay was to remove towing aids and ocean voyage sea fastenings. The sheltered deepwater quayside in Haugesund is ideal for this kind of work.

The ship docked for approximately six weeks, during which about 230,000 man-hours were spent readying the FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) for installation at the Schiehallion field. The assignment included various marine operations and fabrication activities. Aibel also assisted BP with a function test of a mechanical winch and made its yard facilities and services available.

The assignment was completed within agreed time and with very good HSE results.
