Principal Engineer - Marine

We are looking for Principal Marine Design Engineers to strengthen our Marine Department in Oslo. As a Principal Marine Design Engineer you will hold the responsibility or be a team member for executing the marine engineering for EPC projects in the teams.

About the position
You will drive marine engineering for EPC projects, collaborating on concept development across various energy sectors.

Responsibilities and tasks include

  • Responsible for marine engineering for FEED & EPC projects
  • Develop and maintain Aibel’s marine design philosophies in collaboration with disciplines in all business segments
  • Perform hydrodynamic and mooring analyses, typically frequency-domain, time-domain, motions, wind, etc.
  • Perform conceptual and detail design of temporary steel for marine operations, i.e. grillage & sea-fastening, lift points, guides & bumpers etc.
  • Develop and maintain an overview of regulations and requirements from clients
  • Interface and work with all stakeholders: clients, vendors, suppliers and certifying authority as required
  • Support and assist Business Development on marine design engineering, method, and execution input

Qualifications

  • Higher technical education (BSc / MSc / PhD)
  • Preferably, experience within one or more of the business segments of Aibel: Offshore wind, oil and gas, aquaculture, hydrogen, CCUS
  • 5-10 years+ relevant work experience
  • Experience with conceptual development and design documentation and reporting, as well as contracts and subcontracting
  • Overview of Rules and Regulations within the applicable markets including international norms and regulations
  • Commercial understanding and how technical development aligns with cost impact
  • Hands-on experience on design and analysis of floating structure, time & frequency domains as well as stochastic analysis
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of offshore environmental load models

  • Detail-oriented, ensuring precise execution and compliance
  • Must be fluent in English; proficiency in Norwegian is preferred
