Senior Technical Safety Engineer

As a Senior Technical Safety Engineer, you will act as the single point of contact for the Safety Engineering discipline, providing technical leadership and support to project teams across Tender, Conceptual, FEED and Detailed Engineering phases. In this role, you will be involved in managing and delivering all safety engineering design activities, ensuring compliance with project-specific performance, integrity, quality and HSE requirements.

About the position

The Senior Technical Safety Engineer is responsible for all Safety Engineering design activities and deliverables, ensuring compliance with project performance, integrity, and HSE requirements. This role involves providing technical input for equipment procurement and package evaluations, as well as supporting verification activities with classification societies and other authorities. You will represent the discipline in meetings, audits, and workshops, where you will be tasked with the effective and timely resolution of technical issues. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will collaborate across teams to ensure that designs are fit for purpose and meet the approved project scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree within relevant topics for the position
  • Preferably 5–10 years working experience within technical safety discipline in the oil & gas industry
  • Competence within one or more these areas:
    • Fire and Gas (F&G) / Emergency shut down (ESD)
    • Passive and active fire protection (PFP)
    • Area classification
    • Escape routes and evacuation means
    • Functional Safety Engineering (FSA) / Safety integrity level (SIL)
    • Coordination of third-party safety studies like HAZID/ENVID, SIL classifications, QRA, and ALARP assessments.
