Job responsibilities:

  • Report to the Engineering Manager at a project level and to the IT Manager at basis level.
  • Implement Company work processes, procedures and quality policies as required by project.
  • Adhere to Company contractual requirements, Scope Boundaries and support the project with the Management of change on assigned areas.
  • Establish, configure and maintain the project specific SPPID & SPI environment, including plant structures, domains, catalogues, symbol libraries and rule sets.
  • Define and maintain project standards for tagging, naming conventions, data attributes, revision control and approval workflows.
  • Administer user access, roles and permissions in accordance with project and Company requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency of P&ID and Instrument data across the project.
  • Implement and maintain QA/QC processes, validation rules and automated checks to safeguard data integrity.
  • Identify, analyse and resolve data conflicts, inconsistencies and integrity issues in coordination with relevant disciplines.
  • Interface with Engineering Disciplines such as Process, Technical Safety, Instrumentation and IT Support to resolve system or data related issues and interface requirements.
  • Facilitate extraction and maintenance of engineering indices such as line lists, equipment lists, valve lists, instrument indices and such, as required by the project.
  • Support bulk data loading activities and controlled symbol or attribute customisation.
  • Support to maintain consistency of tag numbers, line identifiers and equipment references across integrated systems.
  • Coordinate system backups, upgrades, issue resolution and troubleshooting in collaboration with IT support functions.
  • Implement and administer P&ID and Instrument deliverables revision control in alignment with the project change management process.
  • Maintain full traceability of P&ID and Instrument tag changes and support document control workflows for issue, review and approval cycles.
  • Provide system onboarding, training and day to day support to engineers and designers using SPPID & SPI.
  • Provide strong hands-on expertise in SPI & SPPID.
  • Expertise in SPPID & SPI configuration, customization, and administration.
  • Experience with EDE (Engineering Data Editor) customization.
  • Create hook-up library creation and drawing support.
  • Ability to develop and customize engineering templates with Company logo (instrument datasheets, hook-ups, loop and termination drawings).
  • Perform SPPID & SPI data migration and system integration.
  • Define and manage custom fields and custom tables.
  • Define and manage typical loop templates.
  • Provide administrative support for data import and validation in customer AVEVA environments.
  • Back-up typical templates, reports etc.
  • handover of final As Built SPPID & SPI database (including drawings).
  • Prepare and maintain user guides, work instructions and training material when required by the project.
  • Conduct periodic system audits to verify correct usage, compliance with standards and data quality.
  • Where applicable during the EPC phase of a project, support vendor data integration, IFC issuance, redline management and as-built updates to the P&ID & SPI database.
  • Ensure that all risks related to his/her area of responsibility are identified, assessed and preventive measures are implemented in a timely manner when required.
  • Be responsible for the progress of assigned scopes, including planning and coordination, in line with project budget and schedule.
  • Continuously seek to improve working methods, tools and procedures and contribute actively to experience transfer.

Work experience requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience having worked in a multi-disciplinary engineering setup for large scale capital projects having served in the capacity of a SPPID & SPI Designer/ Administrator, having accrued thereof a minimum experience of 5 years in the capacity of an SPPID & SPI Administrator.
  • Must possess a good understanding of project phases, milestones, deliverables and engineering workflows.
  • Must have strong computer literacy in commonly used business applications such as MS Office and possess practical knowledge in Database fundamentals such as Oracle/ SQL and managing structured engineering data & databases.
  • Familiarity with client system AVEVA handover and data validation processes.
  • Exposure to SPPID & SPI configuration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering/ IT or other relevant engineering specialisation.

Other skills:

  • Must have good technical communication (verbal and written) skills with proven ability to present technical issues to design and project teams.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently, make sound decisions, analyse problems and provide focused solutions.
