Aibel awarded major Equinor frame agreements

Aibel has been awarded long-term framework agreements for maintenance and modifications (M&M) at several of Equinor’s onshore facilities and offshore installations. This reinforces Aibel’s position as a leading provider within M&M services.

The contracts have a fixed duration of five years, with options for extension for an additional three and two years. The value is estimated at NOK 20 billion for the fixed period.

The final portfolio allocation will be confirmed when the contracts are signed, scheduled for week four.

Aibel is intended to be awarded the main agreements for offshore installations covering the fields Aasta Hansteen, Norne, Johan Castberg, Oseberg, Visund, Gullfaks, Sleipner, Gudrun, Martin Linge, Draupner, and Snøhvit, as well as the main agreement for onshore facilities including Kårstø, Tjeldbergodden, Mongstad, and Hammerfest.

In addition, Aibel has been awarded a competitive agreement for extended modifications and projects – EMOD/EPRO – covering both offshore and onshore projects.

This means that Aibel will continue ongoing work at the Kårstø, Mongstad, and Hammerfest facilities, where Aibel already holds contracts for M&M services. Tjeldbergodden is a newly designated facility in the agreement.

New intended offshore allocations include the fields Visund, Gullfaks, Sleipner, Gudrun, Martin Linge, Draupner, and Snøhvit.

The main agreements will commence on 1 May, while EMOD/EPRO starts on 1 March.

“Since 2022, we have had a strategic long-term collaboration agreement with Equinor where a key focus area has been improvements within M&M. We are therefore proud of the trust Equinor has shown us by once again choosing us as the supplier for maintenance and modification of critical infrastructure at both offshore and onshore facilities. We look forward to continuing a close and strong collaboration, where we can contribute to the ongoing safe, profitable and sustainable development of the Norwegian continental shelf,” says Aibel President and CEO Mads Andersen.

Marianne S. Davenport, Executive Vice President for Maintenance and Modifications at Aibel, also expresses her enthusiasm for the new agreements:

“This is a recognition of the effort our employees have put in over many years and of our ability to deliver safe and efficient solutions. At the same time, this is a new and exciting collaboration model that addresses the industry’s general challenges with cost and productivity, as it is designed for us to improve profitability together as ‘one team’ through strong deliveries and projects. The model also means that we must explore new ways of working, supported by digital and technological solutions. Therefore, we look forward to further developing our cooperation with Equinor and shaping the future of maintenance and modifications,” she says.

The framework agreements are expected to provide a significant workload for Aibel and a solid foundation for further development of technology, organisation, and infrastructure.
