Aibel wins new Gudrun contract

In the autumn of 2018, Aibel was awarded the FEED contract (Front End Engineering Design) for Gudrun Phase 2 Water Injection. Today, the contract with Equinor has been extended to also include the actual implementation (EPCI). The contract has an estimated value of NOK 600 million.

In the summer of 2013, Aibel delivered the platform deck for Gudrun after being responsible for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI).

“We are very familiar with the Gudrun platform, so I’m convinced that we will deliver with regard to all parameters,” says President and CEO, Mads Andersen.

The main objective of the project, Gudrun Phase 2 Water Injection, is to increase and extend recovery from the reservoir. During the FEED, Aibel has ensured maturation of the chosen concept for water injection into the reservoir. The project has included study work related to new equipment and pipes for the water injection system. Additionally, Aibel has worked on solutions for integration, hook-up and installation of this on the Gudrun platform.

“In this project we will employ Aibel’s broad expertise in the entire value chain, from initial studies to finished project. The award is a confirmation that the study team has carried out thorough preparations and developed a competitive concept. This provides an excellent basis for the actual execution,” Andersen concludes.

The implementation phase has an estimated value of NOK 600 million and will commence immediately. The project will involve around 160 people at its peak both onshore and on the installation offshore.
