Delivered seven modules in two months

Since May, seven large FPSO modules have left Aibel's yard in Thailand. The deliveries are all part of the Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) project, which Aibel carries out for MODEC.

"Together with our subcontractors and suppliers, and not least with the support of our client, we have shown our ability to deliver on time and with excellent quality," says Managing Director for Aibel Thailand Ltd., Nick Routledge.

Seven modules

Aibel was awarded the contract with MODEC, which included procurement and fabrication of a total of seven modules, in January 2014. Just two months later, in March 2014, the first steel was cut.

"This is a sizable project that fits our expertise perfectly," says Project Manager Chalermsak Leaipailote.

The majority of the fabrication work has been executed from Deeline, which is 40 per cent owned by Aibel. The erection and installation work has taken place at Aibel's assembly area in Laem Chabang.

About 4.3 million man-hours have been carried out during the fabrication. At its peak in May, more than 2,000 associates were working on the project.

10,000 tonnes

The first two modules, 3P Crude Separation and 5P Produced Water Utilities, were delivered early May. Just a couple of weeks later it was time for the next delivery, comprising modules 4P Crude Separation B and 6P Sea Water Filtration & Water Injection. 13 June, the project team could wave goodbye to the final three modules; 2S Compressor Train B, 3S Compressor Train A and 4S Gas Treatment.

The total weight of all modules was just above 10,000 tonnes. All modules have now been sent to MODEC's facilities in Singapore, where they will be integrated on a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit.

"We have carried out a controlled, safe and well-executed operation. I would like to thank the entire team for their efforts and ability to tackle any challenges and now reaching this important milestone," says Leaipailote.

Assisting MODEC

A small job still remains, as Aibel's project team will offer support to MODEC in order to finalise the remaining work at the integration yard in Singapore. The next major milestone in the project will be the ship-naming on 30 September. By the end of the year, the FPSO will leave the yard in Singapore for installation at the field off Ghana, West Africa. Tullow Ghana is the operator.
