Aibel’s operations in Thailand date back to 1999, when the company opened its own yard. This yard gives Aibel an important competitive advantage, as it has repeatedly shown that it can deliver high quality modules at competitive prices.
The yard is ideally situated in Laem Chabang, the largest and deepest port in Thailand. Over the years, the yard has specialised in the supply of modules for FPSOs, platforms and onshore facilities. It is also the only yard in Thailand supplying topsides for use on the Norwegian continental shelf.
Prefabrication for projects in Thailand takes place at Deeline, which is partly owned by Aibel. Deeline specialises in the delivery of steel structures and piping fabrication and has been Aibel’s trusted partner for more than ten years. Deeline’s fabrication area is located in Huaypong Rayong, around an hour’s drive from the yard. Both the assembly yard in Laem Chabang and the prefabrication facility in Rayong have developed and grown considerably over the past years offering more than 400,000 m² of construction area with up to 15,000 tonnes capacity annually.
The Laem Chabang port area has many advantages. The 16 m. water depth and 500 m. available jetty for load out but also the Bonded Warehouse facility offer's significant benefits.
A number of interesting projects for various clients have given the yard solid experience of the entire project life cycle, from engineering and procurement to completion and commissioning. The yard in Thailand works closely with Aibel’s Norwegian yard, both on joint projects and in building competence throughout the organization.
