Bringing new field to life

In 2017, Aibel was awarded the contract for hook-up of the Johan Sverdrup drilling platform, which has been constructed by the company. In addition, the contract included a number of options for further hook-up activities at the field.

The hook-up of the drilling platform started at the field in spring 2018. Through the options of the contract, Aibel was also responsible for hook-up of the process platform (P1) and two bridges connecting P1 and the drilling platform, and P1 and the living quarter platform, respectively. The project also included connecting the drilling platform’s systems towards the jacket, splicing of high-voltage cables, and hook-up of a temporary hotel platform. In addition, Aibel is assisting the client Equinor during commissioning and start-up offshore.

The project was managed from Aibel’s office in Haugesund. During the intense offshore phase from spring 2018 through the summer of 2019, Aibel had up to 600 employees in rotation offshore.
