Aibel will carry out modifications to the Ekofisk M and J platforms for the tie-in of the new Tor II subsea production system.

From FEED to EPCI at Ekofisk

After completing the FEED study (Front-End Engineering Design) for the project, Aibel was awarded the EPCI option (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation) of the Tor II development on Ekofisk by ConocoPhillips.

The contract covers implementation of greenfield systems, preparation for flowline pull-in, update of SAS system and installation of new metering systems on the Ekofisk M and J platforms. This will facilitate continued operations of existing facilities and the integration of the Tor II subsea production system.

Offshore work starts in January 2020, and will be completed in September 2020.

The project is managed from Aibel’s office in Stavanger.

The Tor field is located 13 kilometers northeast of the Ekofisk field and was on production from 1978 trough 2015, when the lifetime of the initial production platform Tor 2/4 expired.

Aibel has vast experience from the Ekofisk area as the company had a long-term maintenance and modification agreement with ConocoPhillips for the area from 2002 to 2016.
