Principal Engineer – Telecom

Concept and Studies in Oslo is looking to strengthen the team with a new Principal Telecom Engineer. You will be a key resource within telecom design and strategies in Concepts and Studies and responsible for Telecom work in tenders for studies, in addition to perform early phase studies.

About the position

This is a discipline role which requires both technical understanding and a multidisciplinary mindset, supported by understanding of the market mechanisms and the potential commercial impacts of selected solutions. Knowing Aibel’s business is not essential, but you will be expected to acquire an understanding of our company so that you can align the opportunities with Aibel’s strengths, delivery models and strategic focus. Your duties will include defining and specifying the Telecom strategy and Telecom subsystems during the study phase.

Responsibilities and tasks include

  • Development of Telecom philosophy and design solutions to required level
  • Development of topologies and system descriptions
  • Design solutions for remote operations, diagnostic, maintenance, monitoring and Telecom design challenges
  • Interface to other disciplines, contractors, and client
  • Participate and arrange meetings, workshops and reviews for the Telecom discipline
  • Participate and contribute to improve and mature working methods

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master Degree or relevant technical education
  • 5 + years’ experience from Telecom engineering and telecom system design activities within greenfield O&G or wind projects on the Norwegian continental shelf
  • Experience from Telecom system design in Study phases/FEED or other relevant experience
  • Knowledge of telecom system design according to relevant standards such as: NORSOK, ATEX, PTIL, DNVGL and IEC
  • Proficient in written and spoken English, Norwegian knowledge is an advantage
